It was bad enough when he threw temper tantrums that threatened US-Israeli relations. His attacks on Obama would not have been tolerated if they came from any other leader and any other country. He tried to interfere with a presidential election, openly hoping the Romney would prevail. Most recently, he did everything in his power to screw up negotiations with Iran.
The flotsam and jetsam left in his path are considerable. Amazingly, he managed to top himself with what has to be the most idiotic performance yet. Perhaps he is trying to deflect from his doomed to fail moves in Gaza and the West Bank, as the death tolls spiral out of control. If so, his efforts are mind-numbing and jaw-dropping.
Not since Stalin rewrote USSR history books has there been such a perverse and boneheaded effort to ignore the past.

A bit of history first.
Mohammed Effendi Amin el-Husseini was a Palestinian who was named the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. In 1938-39, he led several anti-British protests and revolts. Seeing the the growing strife between England and Germany, it was easy for him to choose the latter as a potential ally.
In late 1941, he met with Adolf Hitler to seek his assistance in creating a Palestinian state.
As for the Nazis, here are dates, places, and vile historical facts:
In 1933, the Jewish population of Europe stood at over nine million. Most European Jews lived in countries that Nazi Germany would occupy or influence during World War II. By 1945, the Germans and their collaborators killed nearly two out of every three European Jews as part of the “Final Solution,” the Nazi policy to murder the Jews of Europe.Although Jews, whom the Nazis deemed a priority danger to Germany, were the primary victims of Nazi racism, other victims included some 200,000 Roma (Gypsies). At least 200,000 mentally or physically disabled patients, mainly Germans, living in institutional settings, were murdered in the so-called Euthanasia Program.
As Nazi tyranny spread across Europe, the Germans and their collaborators persecuted and murdered millions of other people. Between two and three million Soviet prisoners of war were murdered or died of starvation, disease, neglect, or maltreatment. The Germans targeted the non-Jewish Polish intelligentsia for killing, and deported millions of Polish and Soviet civilians for forced labor in Germany or in occupied Poland, where these individuals worked and often died under deplorable conditions.
Introduction to the Holocaust.The attacks, harassment, and eventual move to death camps started shortly after the Nazis took power in 1933, before the Grand Mufti held that title.
Bibi must be off his meds. Here is the Guardian reporting on what he said in advance to a trip to Germany:
The Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, has attracted a storm of criticism for an incendiary speech in which he accused the second world war Palestinian grand mufti of Jerusalem of having suggested the genocide of the Jews to Adolf Hitler.The comments in a speech to the World Zionist Congress in Jerusalem came in the context of the current violence between Israelis and Palestinians and were condemned by historians and the Israeli opposition leader Isaac Herzog for trivialising the Holocaust.
On the Palestinian side, senior official Saeb Erekat described the remarks as absolving Hitler.
In his speech, Netanyahu purported to describe a meeting between Haj Amin al-Husseini and Hitler in November 1941. “Hitler didn’t want to exterminate the Jews at the time, he wanted to expel the Jews. And Haj Amin al-Husseini went to Hitler and said: ‘If you expel them, they’ll all come here [to Palestine].’” According to Netanyahu, Hitler then asked: “What should I do with them?” and the mufti replied: “Burn them.”
The GuardianWhat on this flat earth is going on in his head? The Final Solution started long before the Grand Mufti’s visit in 1941. Given his ever more erratic behavior, I wonder if he has some undisclosed mental issue going on. Because what he is saying is just plain nuts.
Given his recent history and ever more wild statements, it should give anyone pause that he is in control over nuclear weapons. Here is what the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists says about Israeli nukes:
Although the Israeli government neither confirms nor denies that it possesses nuclear weapons, it is generally accepted by friend and foe alike that Israel is a nuclear-armed state—and has been so for nearly half a century. The basis for this conclusion has been strengthened significantly since our previous estimate in 2002, particularly thanks to new documents obtained by scholars under the US Freedom of Information Act and other openly available sources. 1 We conclude that many of the public claims about the size of the Israeli nuclear arsenal are exaggerated. 80+ nuclear weapons in the hands of a madman. Talk about scary. Given that Bibi’s daddy was a reknown historian and scholar, Bibi’s words are even weirder and more disturbing. I don’t know much about Israeli political mechanisms, but is there a way to remove a sitting prime minister because of a mental breakdown without holding a new election?
